OzCat SPECIAL MEAL/Dietary Requirements

We are owner-operators of a small Charter Boat company with a focus on the boat,  we do provide basic food for the convenience of our passengers, however we are not a catering business.

Canapés and Buffet Menu – What you see here, is what you get. If you have special dietary requests due to your personal preferences or allergies  we may be able to accommodate them for the food that we outsource such as the canapés and buffet menus at an additional cost, however please do check with us prior to ordering as we need to ensure this is possible with our supplier as well as from a perspective of serving it on board a sailing catamaran.

Platters and BBQ Menus – A platter is food on a large tray to be shared with friends – this is also mostly finger food. We all have a duty of care towards anyone with special meal requirements not due to personal preferences but allergies; this duty of care is not just limited to our supplier and us but also extends to you as a friend or family member or a colleague. Controlling cross-contamination of various food items/ingredients e.g. nuts, dairy, gluten or any other ingredient that may cause one an allergy on a single platter is not possible for our caterer that prepares the platters, us or even yourselves, as we regularly see people picking food the same pair of tongs despite having provided separate tongs and at times even with fingers that have been licked. Our platter menus are reasonably priced and as such they come as they are and cannot be changed to accommodate a mini-platter for a small number of people. Hence, we suggest that if you are keen on a platter menu but have special meal requirement for yourselves or have friends or family that are joining us with special meal requirements then you please organise food for them. We apologise in advance if this causes any disappointment or inconvenience.

HESTIA

  • Hestia does have a small boat oven & microwave which can be used upon request (prior notice required). Whilst the boat is equipped with this equipment for a small group, they are not suitable to cook or heat large quantity of food for over 8 people. The BBQ is much better at cooking food for large numbers of guests which the skipper will cook for you so guests can concentrate on having fun.
  • Large pieces of meat e.g. legs of lamb, whole turkeys etc are really not appropriate to cook on board in the limited time available so please avoid bringing them. Pastries & pies are not ideal to cook on board. If you wish to have us cook this type of food please give us some advance warning so we can discuss it with you and the quantities involved.
  • We request all food brought on board has been defrosted and is ready to cook so that it can be cooked and consumed on a 4-hour charter.
